Iyengar Yoga for Depression with Patricia Walden, Marla Apt, Dr. Chris Streeter.

Livestream + Recording
Sunday November 19
11:00AM-2:00PM Pacific Time

Iyengar Yoga Therapeutics is pleased to present evidence-based practices to help counteract the debilitating effects of depression. Our three presenters have been working for decades in the fields of Iyengar Yoga and research into yoga as a complementary treatment for depression.

Dr. Chris Streeter will present an overview of the neurology of depression and how yoga benefits the nervous system. She will share findings from her own research that have demonstrated the positive impact of Iyengar Yoga on the brain and neurotransmitters associated with a reduction in depressive symptoms.

Dr Streeter's presentation will be followed by a yoga practice led by Patrica Walden and Marla Apt. The yoga sequence, an approach that informed Dr Streeter’s as well as other research related to Iyengar Yoga for depression, is based on BKS and Geeta Iyengar’s therapeutic principles. The yoga sequence will include adaptations for varying ages and abilities.

This workshop is open to yoga teachers and practitioners with at least one year of Iyengar Yoga experience.

Workshop recording(s) will be available for two weeks to all who register.
